I am married, 33 years old and studying for a Ph.D in agriculture. My family moved to New York when I was six, and I made an Aliyah back to Israel eight years ago in order to study soil and water sciences in Israel. The decision was based on the desire to work in the field of agriculture and water in the realm of international development.

My research examines the fate of psychoactive drugs, detected in treated wastewater.  These compounds have been detected in irrigation water and through my research we are developing a better understanding regarding their fate in soil and the mechanism of uptake, transport and metabolism by plants.

I have been involved in a spectrum of volunteer work ranging from community organizing to union leadership and environmental activism. Today my focus has sharpened to three main issues: agriculture, energy and water. I am currently a board member and project manager at Engineers Without Borders - Israel.  My work focuses on agricultural development and education in Ethiopia.  The project facilitates technology and knowledge transfer through a hands on approach.  I am currently managing a project that introduces a holistic approach to agriculture, focuses on professional development and supporting small land holders.
