I am volunteering with the 'Yotzim Leshinui' organization, which has a goal of helping disaffiliates from the ultra-orthodox (Ex-Haredim or Yotzim) community.

Unlike other organizations which helps Yotzim, we strive to help anyone who have studied under the Haredi education system and is no longer Haredi, this includes individuals who are still religious.

Yotzim Leshinui has many running projects, most of which vies to oblige various institutions (Universities, The Army, various governmental ministries etc.) to directly fund programs for the Yotzim, which will provide them with the skills needed to enable them to support themselves and become upstanding and contributing citizens to society.

In my work I manage and organize one of these projects called 'Yotzim Lilmod'. This project, along with a few others, focuses on bridging the academic and educational gap of Yotzim. In practice, we provide Yotzim with free private teaching and guidance in a variety of subjects and stages (Matriculation, SATs, preparatory programs and higher education).

In my work entails raising funds to pay scholarships to the teachers, advertising in various media to recruit the teachers and students, and keeping track of their meetings and progress. The program is quite dynamic, new students approach me every week and other are finished with their test or goals and leave the program. I also arrange yearly meetings and try to build a small community which has implications to more than just studying.

As the year is nearing the end, I am thinking about next year, and intend to widen the project as much as I can. I hope to make it national next year (currently it is based in Jerusalem, where most Yotzim reside).
